A Warm-Up A Day...

Nearly every morning, each day of the week at gSchool we start the day with a programming warm-up. What started as a rag-tag collection of programming exercises is slowly turning into an omnibus of great programming challenges.

When Jeff, Katrina, and I talked about the layout of each day of the gSchool program we wanted to start each day with a motivator to get students into their seats on time, get their problem-solving minds significantly whetted and provide small successes during the week.

Katrina has led the development of these great exercises and over the course of this inaugural class we have finished 45 warm-up exercises. As we charge forward into the final weeks of our six month long course the students are going to start over but this time in JavaScript.

So I have taken up the torch of adding Jasmine test files for a large set of our warm-up exercises.

Katrina has some exciting plans to best showcase these warm-ups and I am working on porting them to other languages.

As a resource for the Open Source community we would love your contributions. If you are interested in helping build this resource:

  • Add a warmup by sending us a pull request
  • Add a test file and example solution in JavaScript, Python, or any language you care about…
