Class starts at 9am sharp and runs til 5pm. We’ll have four 15-minute breaks and an 75-minute break for lunch, where you have the pick among several nearby restaurants.
JavaScript has a bad rap, but it’s a real language—and a powerful & beautiful one at that. Together we’ll take a hop, skip & a jump through oft-ignored and misunderstood language features, including functions, prototypes, closures, and namespacing.
Then we’ll walk over the bad neighborhood, where the Document Object Model lives. The DOM is the main reason JavaScript has a bad rap, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be tamed and even conquered. You’ll learn the fundamentals of how browsers work—to better exploit them—and the best ways to use and access the DOM, events, and even resource management.
Your ecosystem is all about the processes and tools that your code needs to survive: unit testing, performance, code management, architecture, documentation, and deployment.
Learn how to handle crazy-big projects; how to write tests to protect yourself against hidden breakage; and how to debug, document, and ship your code when it’s ready to go live.
